ESTES PARK, Colo. – June 19, 2008 -- MercyMe, Kutless, Jon Foreman of Switchfoot, Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek, Israel & New Breed, Brandon Heath and American Idol finalists Mandisa and Chris Sligh are among the Dove and GRAMMY-award winning artists headed to the Rocky Mountain resort of Estes Park this August. These artists are among the more than 30 performers confirmed for the GMA Music in the Rockies Soundstage Concerts 2008, part of GMA Music in the Rockies weeklong talent competition and training experience for Christian artists, songwriters, and worship leaders. The concerts will be held each night at the Estes Park Center/YMCA Longhouse (2515 Tunnel Rd; Estes Park, Colo. 80511) from 7:15 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Aug. 3 to 8, 2008.

The amazing line-up of artists is being offered at an absolutely budget-friendly ticket price of $10 per night for advanced purchases with six-night series tickets costing $50 in advance. Premiere Artist and Gold Circle seating is also offered.
The Music in the Rockies Soundstage Concerts include all styles of gospel music. Sunday night’s worship night will be led by Integrity Music’s Israel & New Breed and feature Colorado’s own Jared Anderson, another Integrity artist and part of Colorado Springs’ New Life Church.
Topping Monday’s Compassion International Songwriter night line-up is the recently crowned Dove Award New Artist of the Year – Brandon Heath. He will be joined by country singer-songwriter Bryan White and Christian alt-pop songwriters Kendall Payne, Robbie Seay, Justin McRoberts and Ali Rogers. The intimate songwriters “in-the-round” concert will be hosted by illusionist Brock Gill.
Tuesday night will feature a full concert set by one of Christian pop/rock’s top-selling artists of all time, MercyMe, who will be joined by Stellar Kart and Vicky Beeching for that evening’s show. Following the show, all ticket holders will also be invited to attend a preview screening of the new movie “Fireproof,” starring Kirk Cameron, which will be released in movie theaters nationwide in September.
All styles of Christian and gospel music will be presented Wednesday night with BEC Recordings’ Kutless topping the night. They’ll be joined by popular Disney-oriented tween band pureNRG, soul gospel trio Trin-i-tee 5:7, the Latin-influenced Jaci Velasquez and classically trained vocalist turned popular worship artist Travis Cottrell.
Switchfoot’s Jon Foreman and Nickel Creek’s Sean Watkins highlight a Thursday night of songwriters who will share the stories behind their acclaimed and best-selling music. Hosted by popular indie duo Shane & Shane, Joy Williams and Mark Harris (4Him) will also share their music and the night will feature exciting performances winners of the Song of 2008 competition from the GMA Academy National Competition, the official GMA talent competition for unsigned artists and held during GMA Music in the Rockies. This night also features the presentation of Song of 2008 competition awards, including the all-new ABS Scripture Song Awards, plus the 5 grand prize song winners will perform their winning songs that night as well.
The Music in the Rockies Soundstage Concert series culminates Friday night in an American Idol-inspired show that is co-hosted by, appropriately, American Idol finalists turned Christian pop success stories Mandisa and Chris Sligh, who will also perform. Aspiring artists, who have competed all week at the GMA Academy National Competition, will sing for the concert audience and for celebrity judges – artist Joy Williams; renowned performance coach Tom Jackson and Carrie Underwood and Rascal Flatts’ producer Mark Bright.
Friday night concert-goers will get to share in the final celebration as the Academy National Competition presents grand prizes titles in the Solo; Duet/Group; Band and Instrumental categories. And, one artist will win a recording development deal with Centricity Music; a rising independent label with worldwide distribution; another will be named Disney’s Best of Show winner receiving a performance slot at the "Night of Joy" event at the Walt Disney World Resort in September in Florida; and one other contestant will be named the winner of the Compassion International Music & Ministry Experience, an all-expense paid ministry trip.
As an added bonus to this year’s Music in the Rockies Soundstage Concert series, ticketholders will also receive access to After Dark events held in conjunction with GMA Music in the Rockies, including Café Estes which features performances by independent artists and S’More Worship, acoustic outdoor (weather permitting) worship.

Many Music in the Rockies registrants will compete in the GMA Academy National Competition, where singers and songwriters will be judged by panels of top industry A&R, record label and publishing executives. The newly redesigned talent competition features prizes from Walt Disney World, American Bible Society, Centricity Music and Compassion International. The legacy of artists that have been discovered or birthed from the Music in the Rockies and GMA Academy experience include Colorado born Stacie Orrico and Rachael Lampa. Additionally, Chris Tomlin, Michael W. Smith, Matthew West, BarlowGirl, Babbie Mason, Point of Grace and others are also among the many artists who trace their musical heritage to Estes Park.
